Shyness and social anxiety are quite different maladies that are often conflated. Both are equally present in society, with social anxiety disorder being the most common form among all the anxiety disorders. A social anxiety disorder can affect anyone, regardless of gender and age, and it can be absolutely debilitating in business and social situations and prevent the sufferer to cease speaking, eating, making eye contact, being in a crowd, and numerous other normal, daily activities.
